It is possible to fix that but you will most likely need good soldering skills.

You have to bear in mind that such a mod may fail so its only something to take on if you think it will be fun to do and if it fails you will get something else.

At least once, I can attribute a major crash to a short dropout -- the 'copter was less than ' away when it suddenly went into failsafe mode, and fell from the sky. If by chance you used a plastic clip, which I believe do exist, that should be OK.

I've also looked at replacing it, but I don't want to cheap out this time although I won't spend a fortune. But it is prone to the problems you've discovered.
